They are both unaware during this discussion that the steps are now coming closer to them.

June 7, 2008Charlie pulls Pedro down.
Charlie: Who is it?
Pedro: I don’t know.
Charlie: So why are we hiding?
Pedro: I don’t know. I have a strange feeling about this…
Charlie: Let me have a look…
She pushes him aside and peeks around the corner of the container.

June 5, 2008The steps stop. Silence falls in the alleyway. Charlie and Pedro look at each other. Pedro puts a finger to his lips. Charlie nods. Pedro takes a peak around the garbage container.
Act. I., Sc. 5: Shhh…
June 3, 2008Pedro: The footsteps are too heavy.
Charlie: What do you mean?
Pedro: Stan is not that big a guy. And the shoes he was wearing wouldn’t sound like this on this pavement.
Charlie: You noticed all of this?
Pedro: That’s part of my trade.
Charlie: And what trade was that, again?
Pedro: Shhhh…
He grabs Charlie and drags her behind the garbage bin.
Charlie: Hey!…
Pedro covers her mouth with his free hand.
Pedro: Shhhhh…
Act. I., Sc. 5: Footsteps
June 2, 2008Pedro (listening): Did you hear that?
Charlie: The owl?
Pedro: No. Someone is coming…
Charlie listens as the sound of footsteps appear to come closer.
Charlie: Ah, this could be Stan coming back from the library.
Pedro: I don’t think so. Too heavy…
Charlie: What?
Act. I., Sc. 5: Who’s coming?

There’s a pause. An owl is heard in the distance, followed by the sound of footsteps approaching.

Pedro: What makes you think I’m not?…
Charlie looks at Pedro, trying to guess his age.
Charlie: I don’t know…
She smiles.
